The architecture of Barcelona.



Barcelona is one of the most magical and beautiful cities in the world with a special charm. The city is the ideal scene for the argument of many well known books, films and of course it's the wonderful place where the best architects of the world dream to build their works. Most of them have got it. For exemple : Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry, Henry N.Cobb, Josep Lluís Sert, Enric Massip Bosch, Ricardo Bofill, Enric Miralles, Benedetta Tagliabue, Norman Foster, Mies Van Der Rohe, Arata Isozaki among others.



Many students of architecture, architects and experts of the construction sector come to Barcelona to know  the Gothic quarter,  the works of Gaudi, and the  works  of the architects del modernisme català : Rogent y Amat, Domenech y Montaner, Puig y Cadafalch, Enric Sagnier, Rubió y Bellver, Jujol y Gibert. 


Passeig de Gràcia is one of the best  pleasant and elegant avenues of Barcelona, with beautiful modernist hauses (modernist style),  which are currently five star hotels, well known international boutiques, cozy restaurants, and we can also find the bookstore : Casa del Libro (Casa del Llibre) with a wide choice of books in different languages and subjects. Domènech i Montaner (1850-1923) was one of first and main architects of Catalan Modernism. His most important works are "L'Hospital de Sant Pau and "El Palau de la Música". In the early twentieth century he  set up a workshop for applied arts, where they work the wrought iron, glazed ceramics, timber, clay and other items used in modernism style. In this workshop were trained the best artisants and artists of this time.

Barcelona : a commercial, dynamic and innovative city.


Barcelona is well known worldwide for its many attractions.The city is a tourist destination which offers a wide range of possibilities. Many visitors specially from Oriental countries, and architecture students from around the world come to know the works of Gaudi.


La Sagrada Familia is one of the most beautiful temples built in our universe by a Catalan architect, Gaudi. A very wise man.
   

The Barça team is also a reason to visit the Camp Nou and the city. The best football team in the world is a great exemple for children and young people.  But Barcelona is also a city where important and international fairs take place throughhout the year, such as GSM Mobile World Congress, Salon Internacional del Automovil, Expoquimia, Alimentaria, Construmat, SITC Saló Internacional del Turisme a Catalunya, Salón Náutico Internacional de Barcelona, Pasarela Gaudí Novias, Barcelona Fashion, The Brandery...and many other.
It means that the city has a cosmopolitan character besides its own culture.

Venice Carnival.



The Carnival of Venice, the carnival of the colors, will take place this year from 26 th January until 12 th February.
It's the most internationally well known festival celebrated in Venice. Italy.







This exhibitions of masked people began at the beginning of the 14 th century. 
Later, Venice Carnival attracted the nobility from all over Europe. The streets of Venice carnival were full of people in masks, and not differentiation could be made between nobility and common people.






Nowadays, thousands of tourists come to Venice and take part in the carnival.
Throughout the year, you can find special shops where the masks, dresses and suits are sold, and you maybe see people who use the masks to carry out secret missions or just for their amusement.
